Riverwalk Village One Step Closer

Riverwalk Village is the vision to transform a 91-acre tract near Riverchase Parkway East into upscale houses and apartments aimed at empty nesters and young professionals. Key to the success of this planned community is the inclusion of an ambulatory outpatient treatment facility.

In November 2023, the Hoover City Council passed a resolution to create a new Health and Wellness District in what was the Riverchase Corporate Park. The cornerstone of this redevelopment is to be the Riverwalk Health and Wellness Village, a state-of-the-art holistic and wellness campus with the latest in diagnostic and imaging services.

Recently, Hoover and Shelby County came one step closer to bringing this about when Judge Ryan deGraffenried recommended the issuance of a Certificate of Need (CON) for the Wellness Center.

On September 18, the Hoover Health Care Authority made its presentation before the CON board in Montgomery. In a unanimous vote, the CON Review Board granted the City of Hoover a Certificate of Need. This was the greenlight for the Hoover Health Care Authority to establish an ambulatory surgical center and diagnostic center at Riverwalk Village!

Improved access to healthcare is a top priority for this administration, and the Riverwalk plan will provide new outpatient medical care along with the latest in diagnostic and imaging services for our citizens. We are excited about the possibilities and the foundation of healthcare this overall development will provide at one of the most accessible locations at Valleydale Road just off I-65 in Riverchase,” says Hoover mayor Frank Brocato.

With the Certificate of Need approved, this facility will be a big gain for both Hoover and Shelby County, providing much-needed healthcare, more jobs, and a vibrant new mixed-use community.
