No reflectors shall be mounted on mailboxes and posts unless it is the 2″ Black reflector tape. Tape shall be permitted if installed horizontally on the mailbox support bar and vertically on post.

Paint Your Mailbox

Time required approx. 15-30 minutes (not counting drying time) If the mailbox is green with mildew, first wash with a chlorine bleach solution, rinse and let dry before painting.

Materials needed:
 All mailboxes should be finished with a black spray or roll on paint” (Ex. Glidden Max Flex black Matte)
 1 can apple red spray paint – Rustoleum Painter’s Touch or equivalent
 1 sheet of medium sandpaper
 A rag
 A piece of cardboard, newspaper, or other paper to protect the numbers from the paint
 A screwdriver
 Painter’s tape, for masking the numbers with paper

Steps:

  1. Use the screwdriver to remove the flag, and spray paint the flag red.
  2. Scuff the mailbox and post lightly with the sandpaper to help the paint adhere.
  3. Wipe down the mailbox and post with the rag.
  4. Mask the numbers with paper and tape…DO NOT PUT TAPE ON THE NUMBERS…it will pull them off.
  5. Spray the mailbox and post, protecting any plants near the mailbox.
  6. Carefully, remove the paper masking the numbers.
  7. When dry, reattach the flag.
