From the President Fall 2024
“…What we’ve got here is a failure to communicate,” is a line I’ve heard most of my life from the 1967 Paul Newman movie, “Cool Hand Luke.” It’s a great quote used in many different conversations! I just found out it happens to be number eleven on the American Film Institute’s list of Top 100 movie quotations. Accurate communication, or the lack of it, has always been a challenge, even now with the amazing technologies of mobile phones, satellite navigation, Google search-instant answers, and yes-even Facebook!
Your RRA board was reminded of the challenges of accurate communication at our May 9th “What’s Up” annual meeting. We learned the amendment process would take more time than we expected, and that accurate communication would be part of the challenge. The June 20th Q&A meeting confirmed that need, and many residents did not understand the responsibilities of “A Covenant Protected Community,” and why our covenants needed to be amended!
By the time this column is published, the RRA board will have completed a series of one-hour Focus Meetings. These meetings will have been made up of small groups of 8-10 residents who asked to attend when the plan was announced after the June 20th Q&A. The meetings will have included a very brief handout or PowerPoint presentation of the proposed amendments, as revised to date. We will have made notes of comments and suggestions and will have asked each attendee to fill out a short questionnaire before the meeting closed. We will now proceed according to the input from the Focus Group meetings.
Until then, enjoy your family, the fall weather, your favorite football team, and this beautiful place called Riverchase, which we call home!
Thanks for your time!
