We had a great “What’s Up in Riverchase” annual meeting on May 9th! Over 230 residents made it through a bad rainstorm to attend! It was exciting to hear updates of the many positive projects in the City of Hoover from Mayor Brocato, especially the Riverchase Lake/Lake Forest Circle dam project which opened a week ahead of the mayor’s June 1st target date.

Of those projects, Riverwalk has the potential to make a tremendous positive impact on our community by increasing our home values and our quality of life! Let’s hope by the time you read this letter the Certificate of Need application has been awarded to the City and the project is a “go!” Joy Patterson, 2023 RRA President, represented the RRA and our community extremely well when she testified at the hearing and was cross-examined by an opposing attorney!

A special thanks goes out to all six director candidates for agreeing to be nominated. They all were well qualified and willing to serve! The newly elected directors have been assigned liaison roles as follows; Chris Barry-Architectural Review, Jeremy Vice-Beautification, Margaret Ouzts-Marketing & Publicity (Riverchase Living magazine).

At “What’s Up” the board announced a project to amend our covenants developed by the Harbert Equitable Joint Venture (HEJV) almost 50 years ago. The covenants were written to protect the interests of the HEJV as they master planned 1800 homesites around the Riverchase Country Club and the Cahaba River. As the homesites were built out, the resident members of the RRA board began to make decisions from a home-owner versus an HEJV developer perspective. This past year the RRA Board of Directors decided eight amendments to our covenants were needed to protect the beauty, condition, and quality of life in Riverchase, “A Covenant Protected Community!” Please look for opportunities for more information on these amendments in your USPS delivered mail, at our Q & A meetings, and on the RRA liveinriverchase.com website.

See you in the neighborhood, and thanks for your time!

Ray Estep, RRA President 2024
